The City College of San Francisco General Assembly calls for a Unified Day of Action of UCs, CSUs, CCs, and preK-12 schools, involving actions such as protests, walk-outs and strikes at campuses across California, in spring semester 2010 at a date in early March that allows for maximum participation of all campuses and schools.
- A unified day of action across all sectors of education will send a powerful message that budget cuts are unacceptable and that students, teachers and workers are prepared to stand up for an education system that is fully-funded, quality, and accessible to all.
- On-campus actions strengthen our movement by allowing for participation by as many people as possible.
- Actions could be planned to suit each campus - including speak-outs, rallies, occupations, or walk-outs.
- The possibility of taking actions across the state sends the message: our schools and colleges are the students, workers and teachers.
- A date in early March is timed to allow for participation across our school systems, avoiding a later time when many campuses are on their spring breaks.
- This date would precede the date for lay-off notices to teachers at preK-12 schools and community colleges, sending a message that our movement will oppose any lay-offs along with other attacks on our education system.
